DiscTrak System - Version 8.10
Copyright (c)1995 Blam Entertainment Group, All Rights Reserved
Read Me File
DiscTrak System is distributed in an uninstalled form. Refer to
the PACKING.LST file for exact file names. If you suspect this
copy is not authentic, call Blam Entertainment Group as soon as
possible for verification. The telephone number is listed at the
end of this document.
SYSTEM UPDATES:
This version of DiscTrak System applies updates from the following
versions:
1.18, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21, 1.22, 1.30, 1.31, 1.40,
1.50, 1.60, 1.61, 1.62, 1.70, 1.71, 8.00
If you use the character "*" anywhere in your catalog numbers, and
are upgrading from version 1.40 or older, the last occurrence of
"*" will be changed to "ƒ" (ASCII 159). You will have to restore
it manually, provided you care.
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
* DiscTrak System uses dBASE compatible .DBF files. However,
these files contain compressed data which may cause erratic
display problems with dBASE and .DBF viewers. DO NOT try to
edit or view these .DBF files with any program other than
DiscTrak System.
* Be sure the following line is included in your CONFIG.SYS.
Files=20
If you already have a files statement, be sure it's value is
at least 20. DiscTrak System will not honor any file handles
higher than eight (8) if they are loaded into high memory by
a third party program (QEMM's LOADHI FILES command, for
example.) All file handles should be located in conventional
memory unless controlled directly by DOS.
* In order for the reports to print directly out of DiscTrak
System, the following line should be in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file.
PRINT /D:PRN
This isn't necessary but it will eliminate the need to specify
a print device the first time you print a report.
* There are some quirks with regards to EXPANDED MEMORY. For
example, if DiscTrak System is to use any EXPANDED memory,
there must be at least 16k of expanded memory free. However,
if there is anywhere from 1-15k of expanded memory available,
the program will not load, giving the following error 'Not
Enough Memory'. Should this happen, type the following line
before loading DiscTrak.
SET CLIPPER=E000
This will force DiscTrak System to stay away from expanded
memory.
* Be sure to have backup copies of your files before you upgrade
to a new version or before you install your serial number.
* For complete system documentation, please read "DT-USER.DOC".
* For an explanation of modifications from version to version,
please read the "DT-NEW.DOC" file.
* The new Currency Symbol flag was added too late in the process
to be included in the system documentation. It's simply a
toggle between US & UK currency symbols.
If you can think of anything special you'd like to see in DiscTrak
System, PLEASE call or write. With your help, we can make DiscTrak
System the best home entertainment cataloging program available for
the shareware price.
Special application requests will be considered. Please send us a
letter, describing in detail what you would like to see in
DiscTrak.
